How Does Solar Energy Generate Electricity
Sun, as we know, is the primary and main source of energy for our planet. It heats the entire Earth, set in motion the river and reported by the wind.
Using solar energy is not limited to direct heating or water heating area. Scientists have devised several ways to convert solar energy into electricity.
If we want to completely replace coal, gas and oil with alternative fuels such as solar energy, we just need to find a way to convert solar energy into electricity with minimal losses.
In solar cells have a distinct advantage over other generators - “raw”, which they use, will never end. In addition, the solar cell has no moving and rubbing parts, and thus can serve virtually forever.
The total amount of solar energy arriving at Earth’s surface for a week exceeds the energy of all the world’s oil, gas, coal and uranium!
Ways of generate electricity from the sun
* Getting electricity through photovoltaic cells.
* Converting solar energy into electricity using heat engines:
o steam engines, using water vapor, carbon dioxide, propane, butane, freon;
o Stirling engine, etc.
* Heating the surface, absorbing the sun’s rays and the subsequent distribution and use of heat.
* Solar Power Balloon. Advantage - the stock steam in the cylinder is sufficient for power at night and in inclement weather.
Solar heating
All houses are partially heated by the Sun, but there are projects that allow maximum use of this gratuitous source of energy and thus significantly reduce the cost of heating. In such houses are installed large windows on the side, illuminated by the midday sun, and much smaller windows on the opposite, a cool side. In some houses of insulating material blinds closed at night, thus preserving much of the heat accumulated during the day. It’s - passive solar technology.
